Either way, we find ourselves in tears…
The journey of launching Soul City Church has completely revolutionized our relationship with God. Never in our lives have we lived so utterly dependent on God. Better put – Never in our lives have we lived more AWARE of our dependence on God.
Our days end with Jeanne and I physically on our knees before God. That time together in prayer typically tends to go one of two ways. We find ourselves in tears because…
- We simply can not see how all of our needs are going to be met personally, as a family, and as a church.
- or because…
- God blows away our small expectations of His goodness and ability to meet exceedingly more than we are even able to ask for.
Either way we find ourselves in tears.
As odd as it may seem. we are becoming increasingly grateful for the dichotomous swing between fear and faith. We are learning to love living life this way. Fully aware of all of our fears, concerns, and challenges. Fully dependent on God. We often wonder how we went so long without living at this level of daily dependence. And the more we experience it, the more we can’t imagine living life any other way.

This has been the recurring theme in our life.
Recently we asked you guys to pray for the financial gaps that we are feeling right now, but after our prayers we realize that we don't ever want to fill those gaps ourselves.
Those gaps are our insulation from the worldly things that grab hold of us and that we have a hard time shaking off. God-breathed shock absorption.
Those gaps are where God shows up.
That's where we want to live.
"Give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread. Otherwise, I may have too much and disown you and say, 'Who is the Lord?' Or I may become poor and steal and so dishonor the name of my God."
Proverbs 30: 7-9
Praying.

Katie…good call on not filling the gaps yourselves…it's the easiest thing to do…here's a great quote i read last night from Guy Kawasaki:
"You might be wondering, Who, exactly, is "you"? The reality is that "entrepreneur" is not a job title. It is the state of mind of people who want to alter the future"
I pray that God will keep you in His state of mind.

Praying for you and following the blog. I remember very well the anxiety and desperation when we felt we needed to plant Vintage Faith Church and leave the security of being on staff at a momma-big church with all that goes with that. But God is faithful and that is more than a Christian cliche. Will continue to pray and watch what happens there with you – and you know I tremendously respect and admire you and if I was in the Chicago area would be joining in with you on mission there.
